Throttling

On the 1st of November 2019, the IMVO (in common with many other National Validation Organisations) introduced a limit on the number of packs which an organisation can verify or change status for in any 5-minute period. The exact number of such actions you may perform is determined by your status as recorded in the IMVO. The three possible options are:

  • Gold
  • Silver
  • Bronze

If you wish to have the level of your organisation changed, please escalate this within the HSE.

If you exceed that limit in the use of of Bulk Mode [F11], Aggregation or Returns [F5] functions, you will see a new screen:

National System is thhtoyyling splash screen

This will retry periodically until the full set of actions requested is complete. You may Cancel the operation but beware that the remaining action(s) will then not be completed!

This check was introduced in ezFMD version 1.5.45 on 05/Nov/2019. Earlier versions cannot provide you with a warning that the system is throttling (as this was newly introduced) and so may leave you under the false impression that the full set of actions was completed.

In this and later versions, if your organisation is currently throttled by the IMVO while you perform a single scan at the main screen, the scanned item is added to the offline queue for later playback to the IMVO. You are prompted at shutdown and startup of ezFMD to replay these offline items.

Finally, remember that while you may not have submitted a large number of packs to the IMVO in the last 5 minutes, a colleague elsewhere in your organisation may have, so triggering the IMVO throttling.
